Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act Five-year Review
Phase 2 of the YESAA Five-year Review has concluded and the Observations and Conclusions Report (2.1Mb PDF) is now available.
Prepared by SENES Consultants Ltd., the report identifies issues in Yukon's development assessment process
and presents recommendations to improve how assessments are conducted in the territory.
Input was sought and received from federal, territorial and First Nation governments, industry organizations and the public.
In the third and final phase of the review, the Government of Canada, Government of Yukon and Council of Yukon First Nations will
review and consider the report and all comments received.
The parties will be working with YESAB and Yukon First Nations to develop a joint response to the findings
and recommendations of the report.
The review is a joint initiative of the Government of Canada, Government of Yukon and Council of Yukon
First Nations and is a legislative requirement stipulated in Chapter 12 of the Umbrella Final Agreement and
Yukon First Nations Agreements.
Public participation
SENES has released their final Observations and Conclusions Report and their role in the review has now
ended.
